by state. and that's looking good for obama. no matter what you think about the electoral college. by "huffington post" count obama has 277 electoral votes to romney's 206. colorado florida virginia and new hampshire are still tossup states. according to the "new york times," obama has 243 electoral votes to romney's 206. but as calculated by nate silver, author of the 538 blog who called 49 out of 50 states correctly in 2008, nate silver says obama has 296 electoral votes compared to romney's 241. remember you need 270 to win. by any measure obama's well ahead in the tally of electoral votes. that's the only count that counts. silver, by the way also gives obama a 74.6% chance of winning this election. and i don't know about you but i kind of like those odds. we'll keep our eye on the white house for you. president obama has a statement today, i'll be there for it. we'll see you right back here again tomorrow. have a good one. >> announcer: this is the "bill press show."

. this is a recall of what we saw for john mccain in 2008. state polls are closing in. obama has at times lead romney by as many as 9 points in pennsylvania, now he leads by just 3. nationally the president is up 48-47, that is according to the new "new york times" cbs news poll. but the survey was conducted before hurricane sandy hit. obama has had a strong response to that storm, so we could see that have a positive effect for him in the polls. obama is still up in ohio but it's a much tighter race in virginia and florida. the president now with 253 votes and romney with 206. more bill press right after the break. ♪ now? kind of guys who do like reverse mortgage commercials? those types are coming on to me all of the time now. >> she gets the comedians laughing... >> that's hilarious! >> ...and the thinkers, thinking. >> okay, so there is wiggle-room in the ten commandments, is what you're telling me. >> she's joy behar. >> and the best part is that current will let me say anything. >> what the hell were they thinking? >> only on current tv. brought to you by geico. 15 minutes
